What does this let me do that I can't with VS Code and an extension or two?

Obviously, this isn't for you. But not everyone uses VS Code or Emacs or Atom or whatever tool that doubles as a text editor. The audience for this is someone like a prose writer or blogger.

That said, Markdown Monster looks a bit much to me.
