Fair enough - I think of opening a bookmark (What do you mean "in a new tab"? That's how you open a bookmark.) as a single action, so it irritates me immensely when I have to make a space, then put stuff into the space, and having to do that simply because I didn't know about middle-clicking - rather than the application being deficient - would be even worse.
