You're certainly an exception, not the rule. In my immediate circle of python programmers, most of them would name Guido, Beazley and maybe on a good day Alex Martelli.
I don't read python-dev and I could name 7 core Python devs without even thinking. (Guido van Rossum, Alex Martelli, Raymond Hettinger, Martin van Loweis, Jeremy Hilton, Georg Brandl, Fredrik Lundh)
