they can hardly imagine a world outside SV, let alone the US. I'm not holding my breath

got em

tbf the east-west split never really stopped haunting Germany. its not like it came suddenly. there are a lot of systemic errors that lead to this.

Yeah, I don't agree with a single point. I know we're all in our bubbles, but none of what OP listed seems left-wing to me. I know I've never thought these things to be true.

If anything, the left-wing promotes men to be vulnerable and seek help if they need it. At least where I'm from that's the case. I'm stumped how different our views are on this.

sübject has clicked the bütton

or ist it more of an ö? (im German btw but can also definitely spot a dutch English speaker :) best way to tell is to have them say "I have an idea!"

I knew what he meant and still thought it spawned an interesting discussion. Mainly because I've never quite intuitively understood that saying. So, I did not take it as OP being tedious about it at all.

yup, I still wonder if BAT was onto something. loved the idea, never took off. oh well

What do you mean? What kind of limiting of your freedom are you afraid of regarding steps that should be taken to avoid this?

I fear we need some government imposed limitations. Hoping that every individual will do the right thing doesn't really work it seems.

Or do you mean the policies should affect companies more so than individuals? In that case I agree fully.

I believe law cannot teach behaviour. Education, dialogue, trust, transparency could. Any kind of centralised regulations and governance do more harm than good. Cognitive shame and collective guilt killed millions in 20th century, we should learn from it.

> Now you only have to deal with that group of bullies who slowly build up resentments, and might end up paying your school one last visit.

Seems like a slippery slope fallacy? Who says the person who got bullied relentlessly doesn't show up to pay one last visit? What an odd argument.

Seems like a decent approach to me tbh.

> "Who says the person who got bullied relentlessly doesn't show up to pay one last visit?"

Exactly! In both (the bully/the bully who once was bullied) cases, you'd still have to deal with these threats, as evidenced by relevant case histories. People are just a little too comfortable to jump to conclusions or create false dichotomies.

It's our version of Thanks Obama.
